When we learn to bless ourselves, we are able to bless others. The challenge is that negativity from our past, or lack of self-esteem from our childhood can make the thought of blessing ourselves seem impossible.
This meditation helps to clear away duality and sweep away the shadows, so that we can become a clear channel for the Infinite and the clear light of consciousness can shine through.
To be able to bless all, we need to see God in all—even in ourselves: “If you can’t see God in all, you can’t see God at all.”
This posture is called “Blessing.” This is how the Popes used to bless the people: “May the Jupiter energy as Guru, and the Saturn energy as Guru, be with you.”
Before you begin your practice, tune-in by chanting the mantra Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo
How to chant the mantra Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo
Sit in Easy Pose with your spine straight. Press your palms together in Prayer Pose at the center of the chest, sides of the thumbs pressed against the sternum. With your eyes closed, focus your concentration at the Third Eye Point located between the eyebrows at the root of the nose, about a half inch under the skin. Inhale deeply and as you exhale chant Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo, on one breath. The sound Dev is chanted a minor third higher than the other sounds. If you cannot chant it all on one breath, take a short breath after Ong Namo. Repeat the mantra three times. The meaning of Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo is: I call on the creative infinite consciousness of the universe. I call on the divine wisdom within me.
Prosperity Hymn
Eyes: Closed.
Mudra: Sit in Easy Pose with a very straight spine, chin in, chest out. Bend the elbows into the sides, and bring the hands up so they are about six inches away from each ear. The palms are facing forward, fingers pointing towards the ceiling. Make the hands into fists, and extend the index (Jupiter) and middle (Saturn) fingers straight up, holding them side by side.
Music: Chant with the recording of Reality, Prosperity, and Ecstasy by Nirinjan Kaur (also called the Prosperity Hymn).
Time
Continue for 8 minutes. To end: inhale and move immediately into Part II.
