We are a team of 8 KY teachers from the community of Ashram Ram Dass Guru in Portugal. We give 31 classes per month across 5 different institutions around Lisbon area.
We work with drug addiction recovery programs, mental health institutions, elderly homes and cancer programs.
The intention of our project is to bring KY and meditation into medical places as a support therapy.
Our aim is for KY teachings to be incorporated into these medical programs as a support therapy.
We can see how valuable our classes are and how much support it provides to patients across different institutions.
In the future, we would also like to work with medical staff to share KY teachings not only with patients but with medical professionals.
What do we need the most?
What we need the most at the moment is funding so that we can compensate the teachers for their travelling expenses and their time. We have 8 teachers on the team and we all travel to different parts of Lisbon area to give these classes. Association Ram Dass Guru does support us financially but its funding is limited and it limits us from developing the project further. With more funding we could reach more institutions and also create more classes at the places where we already teach. There is a demand for more classes. We also have teachers in the north part of Portugal starting similar classes and with the funding we could support them and include them into the project. We have enough teachers who are prepared to commit their time to classes at these very difficult environments but without the funding we remain very limited. The organisations that we work with are public organisations and so their funding is also limited.
