What It Means to Be a Manager at 3HO Solstice
When you become a Manager at 3HO Solstice, you take responsibility for one of the essential service areas that keep the gathering running smoothly. Managers oversee Service Exchange participants, coordinate daily tasks, and communicate closely with other Managers and the production team.
This role requires clarity, commitment, and steady presence. Managers help their teams stay organized, motivated, and connected to the larger purpose of Solstice. Through this leadership, service becomes aligned, and the community feels supported.
Leadership Rooted in Seva
The Manager role reflects the yogic principle of karma yoga—selfless action performed with awareness. Managers lead by example. They serve first, communicate clearly, and hold a neutral, grounded posture even during busy or challenging moments.
At the same time, Managers help create a culture of care. They listen to their teams, support individual needs when possible, and guide service in a way that honors both the task and the person performing it.
Manager Benefits and Recognition
In recognition of their leadership and commitment, Managers and Manager Assistants receive deeply discounted registration rates. These rates acknowledge the time, energy, and responsibility required to serve in leadership roles.
Managers receive a full event pass and early site access, along with the opportunity to participate behind the scenes in daily operations and decision-making. Manager Assistants receive mentorship, leadership experience, and pathways into future Manager roles. Children of Managers and Service Exchange participants also qualify for reduced rates, supporting families within the Solstice community.
Managers may also coordinate Bazaar participation when their role includes full-time oversight and accountability.
Commitment and Responsibility
To be a Manager at 3HO Solstice means making a clear commitment to service. Managers typically serve five to six hours per day, although leadership roles often require additional flexibility. Responsibilities extend beyond daily tasks and include preparation before the event and coordination throughout the year.
Managers help recruit Service Exchange members, define service needs, and support their teams through daily meetings, meditation, and check-ins. They stay organized, communicate proactively, and remain available when challenges arise.
This commitment ensures consistency, safety, and flow across the entire gathering.

Kitchen and Nourishment Leadership
Kitchen Managers and Assistant Managers oversee one of the most vital aspects of Solstice: nourishment. These roles include leadership for breakfast, lunch, dinner, children’s food, specialty offerings, tea and golden milk, sprouts, and food service logistics.
The Kitchen General Manager coordinates teams, schedules, cleanliness, and food safety while working closely with cooks and production leadership. Other kitchen leadership roles focus on preparation, service, cleanup, and specialized offerings that support the physical and energetic needs of participants.
Programming, Music, and Creative Flow
Programming Managers help maintain the rhythm of Solstice by supporting teachers, musicians, and scheduled offerings. These leaders coordinate class flow, stage readiness, announcements, and space setup. Musician Managers support sound for classes, devotional spaces, and evening programs.
Media leadership contributes by documenting Solstice through photography and film, helping extend the experience beyond the event while preserving its integrity and intention.
Supporting Families and the Next Generation
Managers also serve within Children’s and Youth Programs, which offer full yogic curricula designed to nurture and inspire young participants. Leadership in these areas supports daily programming, caregiving teams, and safe, joyful environments for children and teens.
Parents participate in service within these areas and help model shared responsibility across generations. This involvement strengthens community bonds and reinforces Solstice as a multigenerational experience.
Who Should Apply
Those who feel called to be a Manager at 3HO Solstice often bring prior Solstice experience, strong communication skills, and a genuine desire to serve. However, the most important qualification is a willingness to lead with humility, reliability, and care for the whole.
Manager positions are limited and filled on a rolling basis. Early applications help ensure thoughtful placement and preparation.
If you feel ready to serve, lead, and inspire through seva, this path welcomes you.
