“The relationship between you and me is that of the rising and setting sun; you are rising, and I am setting. It is my duty to make sure that as I set, you rise. That is why I am asking you to overcome every obstacle and come to Solstice. When you come to Solstice, you are doing something perfectly, beautifully selfish, for your soul. Renew yourself now. Develop that grit, that commitment to excel. Accept your des tiny today, so that when I set, tomorrow you can rise and accept the challenge.” – Yogi Bhajan

Livtar Singh Khalsa took this challenge to heart and has revolved his life around attending Summer Solstice in New Mexico and Winter Solstice in Florida for the last 5+ decades.

Livtar Singh wrote this “Winter Solstice Time” song:

Here are the lyrics:

1. It’s mornin light, and out on the lake, the mist is dancin around
I’m with my Guru, and all of my friends and God is all around

We come from near and far to sit at the feet of our teacher
To learn the way through the future To learn the ways of a leader

Refrain: We have waited so many lives,
just to be in the company of the saints, at Winter Solstice time

2. The soup is steamin, and the new sun is gleamin, children come sit down
The music’s playin as we feed our souls, and God is all around

We have prayed through all the ages, just to sit in these lines
We’re sitting on our egos, conquering space and time

Refrain: We have waited so many lives,
just to be in the company of the saints, at Winter Solstice time

3. In the Tantric line, in the midday sun, we’re makin incredible sounds
Our arms may be shakin, but our auras are blue, and God is all around

The Guru will fly us over the ocean, to the other side with him
And there we all will meet in God’s court, and not come back again

Refrain: We have waited so many lives,
just to be in the company of the saints, at Winter Solstice time

4. It’s evening light, the start of the night the saints are gathered around
with the Guru’s word, Rehiras is heard and God is all around

We come for so many reasons, we don’t even know why
The Guru wanted us here, to bathe in the Khalsa light

Refrain: We have waited so many lives,
just to be in the company of the saints, at Winter Solstice time

5. Now it’s night, but the bonfire is bright in coziness God can be found
We sit together, and sing out our love, and God is all around

We have traveled together so long to come to the Guru’s gate
To be delivered to our destiny and saved from our fate

Refrain: We have waited so many lives,
just to be in the company of the saints, at Winter Solstice time

6. It’s 4 a.m., and twenty degrees some saint is walkin around
and he’s singin a song right to my soul God is all around

We only have a few days I’m gonna stay all of them
This time is so precious, it will not come again

Refrain: We have waited so many lives,
just to be in the company of the saints, at Winter Solstice time

It’s mornin light, out over the lake the mist is dancin around
I’m with my Guru, and all of my friends and God is all around

Musician & Teacher

It’s an infinite Universe and yet here you are. I’m Livtar Singh. I’ve been playing and performing music ever since my early teens. But I only began writing music after I started practicing Yoga and Meditation. That was 1969 in Orlando, Florida.  Through the fog of the ’60s, I was miraculously led to my spiritual teacher, Yogi Bhajan. I discovered there was a way to live in this world yet still serve my higher self. Since then, I have taught and practiced Kundalini Yoga and meditation.  My meditative experiences opened a channel in me that I had never been able to touch. Energized and experiencing astonishing new things, music became my way of explaining. My way of letting out “Energy Steam”.  I have played the Troubadour in L.A. I sang before 120,000 screaming fans at Baton Rouge Pop in 1971. I toured the US with the Khalsa String Band. Seal once backed me on stage. But my greatest honor was to write “Song of the Khalsa”, a song that is sung by Sikhs and seekers all over the world.  I have recorded with Snatam Kaur and other friends over the years. But finally, for the first time in over 35 years, I am releasing an album of my own songs. It is the deeply distilled essence of my experience with the One. It can help you in your life.  Read about and listen to the “Song of the Khalsa” and “The Khalsa Way” songs
