Be a Manager

Serve. Lead. Inspire.

At the heart of the 3HO Winter Solstice Sadhana Celebration is the spirit of Seva—selfless service. Our Managers are the leaders who make the magic of this gathering possible. From leading entire teams to making sure essential daily operations run smoothly, Managers are essential to the success of this event.

Whether you’re returning to serve again or stepping into a leadership role for the first time, we’re so grateful for your dedication.

What is a Manager?

A Manager is someone who oversees a team of Service Exchange participants in one of the essential departments that keep the event running—such as Kitchen, Registration, Children’s Program, Setup/Breakdown, Security, and more. They ensure tasks are completed, help guide and motivate their team, and work closely with other Managers and the 3HO production team.

This is a leadership role that requires commitment, communication, and reliability.

Available Manager Roles

Below is the list of positions currently available for Managers and their teams descriptions:

Admin

The Admin Team weaves the web that holds Solstice together. You work closely with the 3HO Events Manager and Event Director, supporting all aspects of camp. You take care of all other service exchange teams! From handling logistics and managing vehicles to creating shopping lists and coordinating purchase runs, you have a hand in it all. This is a fun and rewarding team to serve on.

AV/Sound

First consideration will be given to those souls who have previously attended the Summer Solstice. The sacred sound current is one of the most critical aspects of a successful Solstice. From morning sadhana to the evening program, the community relies on the heroes of the Sound team to manage all of our audio and video needs in a conscious and professional way.

First Aid: Doctor On-Call – First Aid: Night Nurse

Camping in the high desert can result in some physical challenges. Our First Aid team serves these challenges with a graceful and compassionate approach to healing. The First Aid team has clinical and licensed personnel on site as well as volunteers equipped to tend to basic first aid. Any patients in need beyond first aid can be taken to the hospital, office, or clinic.

This team welcomes people with both medical/healing and non-medical backgrounds to serve in different capacities. Non-medical team members serve as greeters, maintain the self-help station, keep first aid clean and tidy, organize and inventory supplies, and help set-up/break-down the area.

This team requires grounded, calm and friendly non-medical people to receive people and help get them the care that they need, whether it’s using the self-serve station, getting a doctor evaluation, or addressing some other issue. Some people will also serve as on-call transportation staff in the event of a medical emergency.

Gatekeepers

You are the first person people will see as they come into camp! This team will be responsible for welcoming people into camp and screening registration status. Our gatekeepers help direct new arrivals, check badges, and record car information as people leave and enter camp. Gatekeepers receive a full event exchange.

Green & Clean Team

As a member of the Green Team, you will work to facilitate the removal of all the recycling, trash and compost we make around camp. This is a fun area for those who are passionate about sustainability and educating camp members about the different trash options that are present at camp. If you like to do physical work and don’t mind getting a little dirty, this seva is for you.

Gurdwara

The Gurdwara Team serves the sacred space of our daily Sikh devotional practice. This team is responsible for supporting the smooth operation of the Gurdwara throughout the event, helping to create a respectful, uplifting, and meditative environment for all participants.

Duties include setting up and maintaining the Gurdwara space, preparing for and supporting the daily Akhand Path, assisting with Guru’s Prashad, managing shoes and head coverings, and helping coordinate the flow of Seva and Kirtan. Team members may also assist in orienting participants who are new to Sikh practices.

This team is ideal for those with a deep respect for the Sikh Dharma tradition, a heart for service, and a desire to help others connect with the spiritual depth of the Solstice experience. Familiarity with Gurdwara protocol is a plus, but training will be provided.

Hospitality

The Hospitality Team is a visible presence in the center of camp that serves as a practical “guest services” area, and is a place to go if people need more emotional support. This team requires previous attendance at Solstice, to be able to get people the information they need or point them in the right direction.

Karma Yoga and Service Support

The Karma Yoga & Service Support Team plays a key role in creating a culture of conscious service at Winter Solstice. This team helps participants select their daily Karma Yoga assignment and works closely with team Managers to ensure a smooth integration of new volunteers into their service teams.

Responsibilities include staffing the Karma Yoga desk, answering participant questions, guiding them to appropriate service opportunities, and supporting the coordination between Managers and teams. This team also helps track participation and ensures that everyone is engaged in meaningful, balanced service during the event.

Ideal for individuals who are organized, friendly, and enjoy working with people, this role is essential in helping the festival flow with harmony and shared responsibility. A welcoming attitude and good communication skills are a must.

Kitchen: Bean Sprouts

This team is responsible for growing, rinsing, and managing the daily supply of fresh mung bean sprouts for our community meals. It’s a vital role that supports the health and nutrition of all participants. Ideal for those who enjoy detailed, consistent work and want to contribute directly to the heart of the kitchen.

Kitchen: Breakfast

This team prepares our warm, nourishing breakfast soup and the oatmeal for kids and those with dietary restrictions.

Kitchen: Children’s Food

This team prepares all the food for children ages 0-17. In addition to the camp breakfast and dinner meals, special consideration is provided to children, and nursing mothers for delicious vegetarian snacks and special lunches. Menus change daily and include options for children with allergies to wheat, soy, and dairy.

Kitchen: Clean-up & Dishwashing

Cleaning duties include mopping the floors in quiet times of day, and washing pots, buckets and utensils used by every member of the kitchen team, ensuring they are clean and sanitized to keep the camp healthy and positive.

Kitchen: Dinner Team

This team preps and cooks the mung beans and rice for each dinner. Make our Solstice Salad, carrots and beets!

Kitchen: General Manager

The Kitchen General Manager oversees the entire kitchen operation, ensuring that all meals are prepared and served on time, with love and cleanliness. This role involves coordinating kitchen teams, managing schedules, maintaining food safety standards, and working closely with the Head Cook and Event Director.

Ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, kitchen experience, and the ability to manage a high-energy team environment while staying grounded and service-oriented.

Kitchen: Lunch

Prepare our delicious lunch! Expect to serve in the morning until lunch is served.

Kitchen: Set-Up Crew Food Cook

This team is responsible for preparing all meals for staff and volunteers who arrive early to help set up the event. You’ll be cooking nourishing yogic food before the official start of the gathering, supporting the hardworking crew that brings the festival to life.

Ideal for those with kitchen experience who enjoy serving others through food and can work independently or as part of a small team during the pre-event days.

Kitchen: Tantric Burgers

This team prepares and serves the much-loved Tantric Burgers on White Tantric Yoga® days. You’ll help with setup, cooking, assembling, and serving burgers to hungry participants after their meditative journey.

A fun, fast-paced role perfect for those who enjoy working on a team, staying organized under pressure, and serving food with a smile.

Kitchen: Meal Serving

Help serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.

Kitchen: Veggie Chopping

We peel and chop every morning while we chant and drink yogi tea. Most of our chopping is expertly done in the morning. Expect to arrive in the kitchen as early as 5 am to begin.

Kitchen: Yogi Tea/Golden Milk

This team is responsible for preparing the Yogi Tea, which is served every morning and evening, and for producing the Golden Milk for the Tantric evenings.

Lifeguard

Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants using the lake and designated swimming areas during the event. This includes monitoring swimmers, enforcing safety rules, and responding to any water-related emergencies.

Current lifeguard certification is required. This role is ideal for individuals who are alert, responsible, and committed to creating a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience for the community.

Luggage

The Solstice Luggage Shuttle team has the privilege of welcoming participants to Solstice. We receive all gracefully, give them some basic direction, and deliver their bags to their campground or cabin. We are busy on the first arrival days and again as camp closes. In between, our workload slows. Making sure we are in contact with our team and responsibilities, we have time to enjoy Solstice.

Morning Sadhana

The Morning Sadhana Team supports the early morning spiritual practice that anchors our Solstice experience. Responsibilities include setting up the space, maintaining cleanliness, supporting musicians and readers, and helping guide the flow of the practice from Japji through yoga and chanting.

Ideal for early risers who want to serve in a deeply meditative and sacred atmosphere. A beautiful way to uplift the community while deepening your own experience of Amrit Vela.

Programming

The Programming Team is the heart behind the flow of our event. This team ensures that all scheduled activities unfold smoothly and harmoniously throughout the festival. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting musicians and managing music-related logistics
  • Coordinating announcements and maintaining clear communication with the community
  • Assisting teachers during their sessions with basic needs and stage readiness
  • Decorating and maintaining the main stage and other practice spaces
  • Overseeing the event schedule to make sure everything runs on time

This is a service-oriented team that works closely with many parts of the festival, helping create a beautiful, welcoming, and organized experience for all. Ideal for those who are detail-oriented, love teamwork, and enjoy being in the center of the action.

Registration Check-In

Setting a friendly, inviting and calm atmosphere for participants as they arrive at the Solstice site is the most important function of the Registration Check-in Team. To create this requires a team that is able to stay composed and organized when check-in becomes very busy. Our work is detail-oriented and requires patience and grace. You will serve Solstice participants by completing the check-in process online, handing out badges, and supporting in other ways that provide a great start to their Solstice experience. This is a good place to practice a humble, service-oriented attitude. All team members must be comfortable with and adept at using computers. We will be completing the check-in process on-line this year as well as having on-site registration online.

Claro, aquí tienes una versión más profesional de la descripción del equipo de Seguridad:

Security Team

The Security Team plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and peaceful environment throughout the event. Team members patrol the grounds and collaborate closely with the Event Director, Gatekeepers, and the on-site Sheriff to ensure the well-being of all participants.

A strong understanding of 3HO’s Emergency Protocols is essential, as this team also supports and educates other teams on safety procedures and response measures.

Some evening and overnight shifts are required. This role is ideal for individuals who are calm under pressure, attentive to detail, and committed to fostering a secure space for our community.

Set-Up/Breakdown

The Solstice Setup and Breakdown Crew is responsible for setting the intention for a blessed, healing, inspiring experience at Solstice. We arrive early and stay late. We need strong souls who are comfortable with physical work. General tasks include unpacking storage, painting signs, a degree of skilled carpentry (is helpful if you have it!), helping in the kitchen, and cleaning. It is a good mix of physical, creative, hard, fun, work.

Solstice Youth Camp

The Children’s Camp is not just childcare—it is a complete yogic program designed to nurture, inspire, and uplift children of all ages during the Solstice gathering. Through age-appropriate activities rooted in Kundalini Yoga, the camp offers a meaningful and joyful experience that supports each child’s growth, creativity, and connection to community.

Service Exchange team members help facilitate daily programming, provide attentive care, and support a safe, fun, and loving environment. Shifts typically run from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, including during White Tantric Yoga® days.
