"Come home when you can because there are two things in life --Summer Solstice and Winter Solstice -- when the divine cosmic energy can help you to elevate your consciousness and your health."
One of the most exciting, inspiring, and fun aspects of Solstice is experiencing the love and support of the spiritual community that gathers together for deep transformational work.
"We want our gathering to be together. We want to see each other. We want to meet each other. We want to sing together. We want to face each others’ difficulties. We want to help each other. We want to love each other. We want to understand each other. We want to practice the mantra, Keep Up." -Yogi Bhajan
A Drug/Alcohol/Smoke-Free Camp
Winter Solstice Sadhana is a drug-free, alcohol-free, and smoke-free camp. Keeping your consciousness clear and uplifted enhances the transformational experience of Solstice.
"We are here to prove to ourselves who we are and what we will be. We are practicing a way of life here; we are practicing a strength in us. We are trying to prove to ourselves whether we can relate to soul or not." -Yogi Bhajan
Healthy, Cleansing Vegetarian Diet
It is by no mistake that Yogi Bhajan chose the foods he did for the special menu that we refer to as the Solstice Diet. While it may not be apparent at first glance, this cleansing menu is masterfully crafted to give you the best opportunity to take advantage of the profound sadhana you’ll be engaging in throughout your solstice experience.
"It is a self-disciplining process, it is a self-meditation into the total activity. If we never learn in our lives to break our patterns of life for ten days, we will never learn to live happy. It's a fundamental necessity; it is a must of the human life." -Yogi Bhajan
The Experience of Service
The entire camp is run by the participants. Everyone has the opportunity to serve for 1-2 hours/day. Seva becomes a powerful aspect of the event; you build friends, make deep connections, and serve something larger than yourself in your seva missals.
"Some people think that this Solstice is a festival where things will be catered to their fancies...You are peaceful, strong, honest people. That is the life we are going to practice. And we must experience it." -Yogi Bhajan
Our projection includes what we wear. How we dress reflects our spirit. Please wear clothes that project your grace and radiance. While wearing white is not required (except during White Tantric Yoga® , the experience of wearing white will expand your aura and radiance.
"If we think that we are men, let us be graceful men. If we think that we are women, then let us be graceful women. Let us be Grace of God. Let us understand who we are." -Yogi Bhajan
One of our top priorities is providing the opportunity for everyone to experience group Sadhana every morning in the Amrit Vela (the ambrosial hours between 3–7 am), so late night activities are limited. All music, evening activities, and the bazaar end by 9:30 pm, and lights out in the camp is at 10 pm.
"We are not going to cater to anybody's ego. We come here to give our ego up; we don't come here to demonstrate our ego. Either you undertake the responsibility and be what you should be, or you can never break the patterns. And there's no choice between the two. It would be very silly to come here and not test yourself." -Yogi Bhajan
Photos and Videos
Participants are encouraged to take photos to record their experience, however, taking pictures of or recording (video or audio) teachers, classes, or workshops without prior consent is not allowed. Photos and videos of any and all White Tantric Yoga® exercises is also not allowed.
“Summer [and Winter] Solstice Sadhana is not a joke, it's not a festival, it's nothing but a pure relationship of self and the soul and it's my wish that you should create this bond, this relationship ever and ever and stronger and stronger, Sat Nam.” -Yogi Bhajan
More on the Winter Solstice Experience
"If, somehow, because of circumstances or because of certain duties, you can’t come, please remember those ten days are precious. Wherever you are, meditate, chant and enhance your sadhana and just be very aware and careful that during those days you have to be very special." -Yogi Bhajan
