About the Summer Solstice Experience
A New Solstice for Us
Summer Solstice is a transcendent experience of being together in community as we support one another to live consciously, to grow closer to ourselves, and to live our truth.
Summer Solstice gives us a chance to change our patterns and test ourselves.
During our time together we will discover ways to bring forward the most universal parts of how to nurture one another. As we deepen our practice and participate in acts of Seva together, we begin to build the strength to support one another through the tests of the world.
Join us as a spiritual community and experience the joy of being in community where we can grow and serve together.
A Daily Kundalini Practice
How does Kundalini Yoga differ from other forms of yoga? The emphasis in Kundalini Yoga is on the flow of the kriya—the specific sequence of exercises and meditations (these may include posture, breath, mantra, focus, and/or movement).
Ram Das Puri
Summer Solstice takes place at Ram Das Puri outside of Española, New Mexico, about 35 miles north of Santa Fe. This sacred land is located in the Jemez Mountains at an altitude approaching 7,000 feet. Ram Das Puri is surrounded for miles by a forest of extraordinary natural beauty.
This festival is an ashram-connected, community spiritual experience.
You can expect to get back to the simple pleasures of life – detoxing from technology, connecting to nature, and reconnecting with the deep longings of your soul while we serve each other from a heartfelt space of compassion and understanding.
To step upon this land is to deeply connect with Mother Earth; our prayers acknowledge the Tewa and Kha’po people on whose sacred land we work, live, love, and share. We pay respect to Tewa & Kha’po elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge and pray for the indigenous alliance with these sovereign nations.

Supporting Your Journey at Solstice
Silence
Some people choose to be silent during their Solstice experience (with the exception of mantra, meditation, chanting, etc). This can give us the experience of an even deeper connection with our souls and one another.
There are special badges you can wear if you choose to ‘go on silence’ to let others know you are choosing not to speak. Some people choose to communicate via written notes if necessary. Being silent during your solstice experience can bring focus and depth to the transformative process.
Hospitality
The Hospitality team is available to answer questions, give site tours, and help with any problems you may encounter. This is a valuable resource, particularly if this is your first Solstice experience. The Hospitality team is there to serve you and welcomes your inquiries.
Heart-to-Heart
Solstice can be an intense physical, mental, and spiritual experience. If you need support, you can sign up at Hospitality for a one-on-one 20 minute Heart-to-Heart meeting with an experienced staff member. These are confidential appointments, and are held in a private location.
Circle Experiences
There will be “Circle time” based on the work of Restorative Justice and the Compassionate Reconciliation Commission if you need time to process and share about your experiences of the changes within the Kundalini Yoga/Sikh Dharma community in the last few years. Look on the schedule for these offerings that support community safety.
The Solstice Staff
If you are new to the Solstice experience please feel free to talk with your karma yoga/service exchange manager and anyone you see with a “Guide” flag on their badge. You may also go to the Security Office, Registration Tent, or Administrative Office to connect with a 3HO staff member on any security or personal safety issue. We are a community event and you are a part of that community if you have questions no matter how silly they may seem please ask. Summer Solstice is a safe place to be with your fellow yogis and to explore your practice.
