Peace Be Yours

Until I immersed myself into my yoga practice and the teachings behind Kundalini Yoga, I felt that the external chaos surrounding me kept me bound up. I rarely felt at peace or grounded and centered. I actually did not know what it really felt like to be so, because I had only experienced fleeting moments of those feelings.

Once I began to experience a sense of peace and grounded-ness when I practiced yoga, those feelings would spill into my life beyond the actual practice time. It was a huge revelation to me that consistent and focused yoga and meditation affected every area of my life in a positive way. And those effects could last on a regular basis.

I can now become centered in the midst of anxiety and chaos that may be surrounding me, whether from external sources or from my own inner source (my thought processes and my breathing). Every morning I begin my day with prayer, meditation and yoga and it has been life-changing.

When I sense life swirling around me too fast and I start feeling unsettled, I remember that I can control my inner self. My inner self includes my thoughts and my breath.

I practice what I know to be true to heal physically, emotionally and spiritually.

My process:

  • I start with deep, slow breaths
  • I remember to sit or stand with a straight spine
  • I mentally scan my body to understand what it is telling me—am I in physical pain? Am I feeling emotionally distraught? Do I feel physically grounded to the Earth (either sitting or standing)?
  • I open my heart and mind to practice yoga often with prayer and chanting
  • I then do yoga poses that move the energy of my chakras, move my spinal fluid, and stimulate my meridians
  • I end with a meditation

The most important gift I have received from my yoga practice and time on the mat is that healing, wholeness and peace is ALWAYS available to me! I can put aside all my worry and anxiety and so can you!
