Revolutionary Yoga

This organization brings Kundalini Yoga to low income communities in South Africa. The grant is being used to support a yoga program in a community still suffering from segregation and economic challenges from apartheid.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide our Sangat with an update of our activities since the beautiful grant of Live to Give award to Revolutionary Yoga.

In consequence of the Award, we received much publicity in the local newspapers. We received two more donations from an esteemed community member and a German Yogi who joined our organization as a Teacher while she studied in Cape Town.

Our student body has grown in leaps and bounds with new members joining our classes every week, many of whom became regular students. We opened two more weekly classes and now we offer three weekly community classes.

We are delighted that the teachers’ body has increased: we now have four certified Kundalini Yoga teachers and three trainee teachers.

Our quarterly subsidized Kundalini Yoga Retreats are attended to capacity. It’s at these retreats that our students are able to experience healing and prosperity over an intensive period. It’s also lovely to witness our students building closer bonds and consolidating our Sangat.

A highlight of this reporting period is that on the International Day of the Girl we taught yoga to 20 girls in Khayelitsha. Their immediate love and gratitude for their first Yoga experience was moving.

We remain grateful for being selected for an award and we are still glowing in the light that our international Sangat has shone upon us.
