Intuition Meditation

Intuition gives us the ability to know something directly without analytic reasoning. It bridges the gap between the conscious and unconscious parts of our mind, and also between instinct and reason. Simply put, it is when we just know.

This meditation strengthens the inner knowing, bringing our intuition to the forefront as a guiding tool. Often, we find ourselves derailed from our purpose due to karma from unconscious thoughts, habits, and actions.

This brings the intuition under control. It will cut across human rationality and logic, and set you on faith.

The Gong

“Why do we need intuition? We need it every moment. Why? Because we want to know. If we don’t know, we have to hustle. And all our precious life is wasted in hustling. Are you even enough to survive against every odd? There is only one way to do it. You must have your own intuition, and your spirit must talk to you.” ~ Yogi Bhajan

Posture: Sit as a yogi—as your exalted self.

Eyes: The eyes are closed.

Mental Focus: Concentrate between the eyebrows and the root of the nose. Just concentrate deeper and deeper until you reach self-hypnosis—the point where everything of you is gone. Only the pituitary point and you live. Concentrate. Amalgamate yourself. Accelerate your hypnotic trance created by the Self. Go deeper and deeper and deeper.

Music & Mantra: The gong is played (if there is no gong available, there are many gong recordings available).  Simultaneously, Ang Sang Wahe Guru by Nirinjan Kaur is played just loud enough that it can be heard when the gong sound starts to fade.

Eyes:  Close the eyes and concentrate and get into a self-hypnotic state in silence.

Gong is played with Ang Sang Wahe Guru, 9 minutes.

When gong ends, continue listening to the mantra for 1½ minutes.

Then whisper it for 6 minutes.

Then chant it out loud for 2 minutes 30 seconds.

Total time for meditation is 22 minutes.

To End

Inhale deeply and tighten the whole body. Take the tongue and press the upper palate. Press it hard for 15 seconds. Let it go. Inhale again, deeply. Press the upper palate hard. 15 seconds. Let it go. Inhale deeply. Press the tongue against the upper palate. Harder, harder, harder. Continue for 30 seconds. Relax.

Total time for the meditation is 22 minutes.

Comments:

You can think of intuition as divine guidance. Rather than being guided by ego, we seek guidance from God, which is led by the soul. Developing our inner knowledge can prevent many difficulties and give us a smoother ride in life. Intuition cuts across human rationality and logic and sets you on faith.

This kriya is especially effective if practiced for at least 40 days.

Comments by Yogi Bhajan:

We will play a one-half, a two-and-three-quarter, and a three-and-a-half cycle rhythm to penetrate through the sound. In the hypnotic sense, this sound can give you an experience of Infinity that you cannot otherwise measure.

It is the impotency of karma that takes you away from dharma. You start the sequence of consequences and finally you lose the game. Why? Because you do not have your intuition under your control. The divine guidance is not there. Whenever a man is guided by his ego, insult in the court of God is guaranteed. “Dharam na vidah, homeh nal varadh heh. God’s kingdom has a direct animosity with ego.”

Ego and divinity will never walk together. Where you burn a candle darkness will go away but put out the candle and darkness will come back. Why do we need intuition? We need it every moment. Why? Because we want to know. If we don’t know, we have to hustle. And all our precious life is wasted in hustling.

Are you even enough to survive against every odd? There is only one way to do it. You must have your own intuition, and your spirit must talk to you.

This recording tonight is my gift to you. We’ll name it “intuition”.  The word intuition has a preface. It will cut across human rationality and logic and set you on faith. If you practice it for 40 days, you will start seeing the results.

It is my dedication to the renaissance that started America on the road to being America again [1]. It is my reverence to twenty million young Americans who started with the call of the soul and who sacrificed their lives so that, in this country, mankind would live from maya to dharma. It is my dedication to those who survived with their commitment and who keep the banner today. May it live to continue to the last breath of their lives.

[1] Yogi Bhajan is referring to the “cultural revolution” of the 1960s.
