Here we are, still standing at the end of an extraordinary year, and it is essential now to turn the lamplight down low. Rest, relaxation and pleasant festivities are all a part of the cure for what has been a rough n’ tumble time on planet Earth.
A restorative time-out is keynote to our collective healing, as a lack of self-sensitivity weakens the immune system. This insensitivity is the beginning of what is called Cold Depression in yogic science. Cold Depression is a type of robotic functioning and overall disconnect from one’s own feelings. Not a happy way to live, so let’s explore some solutions to this.
The number 3 of December in the positive polarity represents the themes of creativity, nurturing, the Positive Mind, food, social energy, and children. We need to get back to basics and nurture our very own “inner child.” A large part of the increased violence we are witnessing in the world is because of the unresolved emotional damage people have experienced in their lives. Number 3 in the negative polarity is anger, worry, depression, and destruction, and we don’t want to spiral down that dark alley.
Let’s start with a topic we can all relate to, and that’s food. Number 3 is food, particularly green, fresh healthy food. Get yourself to your local market vegetable isle, and pick up some nice broccoli, kale, Swiss chard, green beans, avocados, arugula, cilantro, and whatever shouts, “Hey, my name’s Chlorophyll, and I’m your new best friend!” Chlorophyll is essential for our overall health, as it supports so many essential bodily functions, including detoxification and brain health. Cucumbers are said to be good for the kidneys, which play an important role in our reserve energy.
Green tea can be a nice break from other jazzier types of caffeine beverages, as it tends to have more nutrition and antioxidants. Ginger tea is good for the nervous system and immune support, so grab a box from the tea aisle or brew it up fresh by slicing fresh ginger and bringing it to a boil for about 20 minutes. Add milk and honey and you’ll be sitting about three steps outside the gates of Heaven!
Now that we’re feeling a bit more fortified, let’s take a look at a few “heads up!” days throughout December. The dates of the 3rd, 6th, 12th, 15th, 21st, 24th, and 30th have a potential edge of aggression; best to try and fly under the radar on these days. This is because the numbers 3, 6, and 9 are of the Fire Element. Don’t let yourself get too close to the steam coming out of someone else’s ears, it may fog up your eyeglasses. This loss of vision allows for a vulnerability in your personal space. So, quoting the Tibetans, “The best armor is to stay out of range.”
We can’t control the world, however, we can control our movement through it. There are patterns in the weather that create intensity and extremes, and so it goes within the realms of our own emotional tides. Don’t fight the heavy tides, wait it out.
Let’s move on to a more chipper topic, and that would be you and your ability to gain a greater sense of personal freedom. No one likes to feel trapped, confined, or restricted, and we’ve all been through some element of that over the past two years. The social conflict in the world has torn apart friends and family, creating an additional source of heartache and despair.
You can begin to experience a greater sense of personal freedom by aligning with a frequency that is above all the distress. What better way to achieve this than by tuning into the Light inherent within you.
This version of the “Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo” mantra will bring within you a state of calm, ease, flow, and synchronicity with the higher Universal forces. We need this help right now, and we need it in a way that is easy-going and self-nurturing. Tune in, let it all go, and let yourself flow with the benevolence and grace of all that is wanting to carry you across the ocean of life. It’s just that easy.
Every calendar has a spiritual challenge and a spiritual gift. By the end of the year, it is important to resolve the challenge and bring the gift into the New Year. The number 6 of 2022 has brought with it the challenges of protection, justice, self-love, and emotional codependency. The self-love and emotional codependency part is because of the triple 2’s contained in the calendar year.
Number 2 represents boundaries, as well as the “Longing to Belong.” The intensity of longing we have all been experiencing can sometimes create a situation where we are willing to “bargain down” ourselves for the sake of keeping a fractured kind of love alive. It’s a bargain where you ultimately lose, because as the saying goes, “Whenever you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settled for.” Don’t let yourself settle for the crumbs of yesterday’s broken dreams, there’s no nourishment there. Protect yourself by moving on at this time, far, far away from anyone or anything that would hold you captive to a lost cause. You deserve so much better, and better is waiting for you.
We certainly can’t let the Holiday season roll by without a movie recommendation, so I’m going to suggest one of my all-time favorites. The 1998 film “Sliding Doors” starring Gwyneth Paltrow. It begins with two parallel storylines, based on whether the leading lady catches a train, or not. As you watch the evolving drama you are constantly shifting between the polarities of, “Oh my, she should have caught the train,” or “She shouldn’t have caught the train.” The storyline keeps you guessing till the very end, and ultimately delivers a point of view that is uniquely unexpected. If you’re open to a little magic, this one is not to be missed.
Okay, let’s review what we’ve learned so far, so we can take the spiritual gift into the New Year. You now know to no longer compromise your safety and integrity for false promises and illusions. You now know to fortify yourself with a higher energy every day, thereby giving yourself the loft and expanse of vision to see the terrain ahead. No more trap doors for you! You now have a greater appreciation for yourself and your journey, thereby attracting the kindred spirits who value you and would safeguard your best interests. That’s a whole lot of good to be bringing into your New Year.
May the kindness and grace of your Guardian Angel surround you, and may the intuition of your Soul guide you to the love you are longing for. We are one in spirit, and may our light shine forth so all may find their way.
