Dancing My Prayers for World Peace

By Jacquelyn Sendak Zavaleta

In the early 1980s, I attended my first White Tantric Yoga® retreat in Berkeley, CA, a location of much political and spiritual activism. Changes to my being were immediate. Practicing Kundalini Yoga and White Tantric Yoga® helped stabilize and clear my many blocks.

This powerful base has given me the courage to leave the comfort zone where I lived and to relocate to a spiritual prayer center (United Research) in the mountains of Black Mountain, NC.

It is a center dedicated to continuous prayer for the world. Growing up in the Washington DC area, I had been involved in some political areas, however, in doing intense and continuous prayer I saw major events and people change!

We broke into groups and each group focused on a certain area of the planet. I was in the Middle East Group (this was in early 1985) and we met in the early hours around 3:00-5:00am (Yogiji said this was a special time for spiritual energies on Earth).

Jim Goure, Founder of United Research, gave a thumbs up to my Kundalini and White Tantric practice. He said, "You have so much more light." He advised me to continue. At the Light Center, I learned how to pray continuously and my inner sight opened and my gifts blossomed.

Eventually, Jim led groups all over the world in troubled areas to do prayer tours. I took part in a couple of them in the US and things did change. Later, I led a world prayer group in my area.

My path led to dancing my prayers through Tara Dance and had me dancing on pilgrimages to benefit others and empower women in India, Nepal, and Japan. In Nepal we danced with Tibetan nuns (at the request of the Dalai Lama's sister) helping to empower them and also at Children's Tibetan Village.

When a group of us danced in Japan at the largest Shinto Shrine in Ise, Japan, shortly thereafter, the first female CEO was appointed in Tokyo! Dancing my prayers is joyful practice.

After taking an online course on Kundalini Kriya practice for children, I was so inspired that I flew to Hollywood and took the Children’s Kundalini Yoga training! The children are the future for the world, and Kundalini Yoga has given me more tools to plant the seeds for planetary change!

I have shared these practices with youth and children through Edgar Cayce ARE retreats and other groups. Years later, many of the kids are grown and have children of their own! They are exceptional. Every time I meet children who were raised in the 3HO community, I am impressed.

Years later, I still see Kundalini Yoga as a foundation to my prayer sessions which have helped make social and political change across the planet. Working on the spiritual energy is very powerful. Kundalini Yoga and Yogi Bhajan have helped prepare many of us to be spiritual warriors!
