What are your Strengths and Weaknesses?

By Nirbho Atma Kaur / Melissa Baker

There is a common question asked when getting to know someone personally or professionally: "What are your strengths and weaknesses?”

Say you firmly answered, "My weakness is my seventh body, the Aura. Sometimes, I don’t trust myself. My strength is the tenth body, the radiant body. I am courageous when it comes to my friendships."

Most humans that do not practice Kundalini Yoga or who are not familiar with Tantric Numerology will not know what you're talking about. In our culture, we understand a weakness to be a problem that we can feel, see, or act upon.

"I get overwhelmed because I spread myself too thin," is an example of this. There are some cases of this where medication is prescribed for anxiety. However, if you took the approach of balancing the different bodies, all ten of them, you would discover this is the Auric body out of balance.

Yogi Bhajan has lectures and quotes to help you understand the Ten Bodies, including this one:

“You have ten bodies: spiritual body, mental negative, mental positive, mental neutral, physical body, arc body, auric body, subtle body, pranic body, and radiant body, and they all are inter-twined.”

These are NOT concepts or principles I was taught in school! How about you?

When a person comes to Earth, they are not only the physical body. A human being is a diverse mixture of energetic and subtle properties. This energy can either be flowing through with the help of tools such as Kundalini Yoga, or this energy can be blocked like an unfriend on Facebook. If the energy is not flowing, you will respond in a way that may not align with your truth. The response-ability each one of us has in any given situation is determined by how in tune we are with these ten bodies.

I was out of balance, physically and emotionally exhausting myself for years. My adrenals cried out to me under the constant pressure. I did not go in nature for weeks. I'd follow a diet instead of listening to what my body truly needed. In a constant state of ‘what will happen next?’ I lost the connection with these bodies.

Sometimes it means diverging from what we think is "normal" or what we do to fit in, and listening to the subtle signals of how we can fit in to our own skin and gain the power that we need to live in our ten bodies.

The second sutra for the Aquarian age is, “There is a way through every block.”

Are you connected with your truth or are you connected with the truth of whatever google tells you? The mind tries to search for everything outside of us. You may continue to conform to the mind and act out of its comments. These are called Samaskaras, or tendencies, potentialities, and unrealized states active in the subconscious and unconscious areas of the mind. You don't think to look at your phone every five minutes, you just do.

Kundalini teaches us that truth is within us. Once you build the awareness to access, understand and connect the bodies, you can live from your truth. The Ten bodies work together in harmony so you can connect with your truth.

We can discover how to incorporate a practice that works for us with Tantric Numerology, Kundalini Yoga, and simply becoming aware of our Samaskaras.

Each one of us has different strengths and weaknesses based on self-realization, knowledge and life experience. Now it’s your turn to answer the question from a yogic perspective: “What are your strengths and weaknesses?” How can you use these tools to know yourself better?

"If you understand that you are Ten Bodies, and you are aware of those Ten Bodies, and you keep them in balance, the whole Universe will be in balance with you."
-Yogi Bhajan
