My birthday is 11/11, and while I always liked this date (it’s a holiday in the US!) it wasn’t until I went through Kundalini Yoga teacher training and was exposed to yogic numerology that I understood there was more significance to the numbers.
Yogic numerology, also called tantric numerology, is a numeric system that provides you with important clues relating to your Higher Self, or soul, and your destiny. What is destiny? It’s the idea that every single person on planet Earth is here with a very specific assignment that is unique to you. Your destiny is your own. Only you can achieve it. When you are moving towards your destiny, you’ll feel energized, clear, directed and vibrant. If you are off track and staying stuck in your fate, you might feel tired, dull, uninspired or confused. This is why listening to the voice of your soul is so important. And since sometimes it is hard to hear the voice of your soul, tantric numerology can be a tool to give you clues to find your path.
Based on the ten energetic bodies and using the date of your birth, this system is a quick and insightful way to get more information about yourself. What types of things can you learn? Some readings are really in-depth and give you specific direction for the exact moment of your life. Other times, it might just be a single word or phrase that resonates so strongly with you, it lights your path.
When I took teacher training back in 2009, I was working as a Certified Public Accountant and doing yoga purely as a hobby on the side. During the training weekend when we were introduced to tantric numerology I remember my teacher going over my numbers and turning to me to say, “You are a healer.” I was stunned. I had never, ever thought of myself that way. A business person, yes. An athlete, yes. A party girl, at times, yes. But a healer? No way.
I sat with that information for months afterwards, considering the phrase, twirling it around in my mind, trying to make sense of it and to see if it really did fit. Some elements of my personality I hadn’t focused on before started to make sense. And now, ten years later, I can say my teacher was right.
Healing is part of my soul’s path. I feel energized, clear and directed when I am sharing the tools of Kundalini Yoga and the Enneagram with people. When I see others healing from these tools, I feel deeply in alignment with myself. That piece of information from my tantric numerology reading in 2009 was really helpful in understanding a part of myself I didn’t recognize at the time. If you want an online reading to get started with your own tantric numerology, you can go here and get a free reading by entering your date of birth.
While there are ten energetic bodies (soul body, negative mind, positive mind, neutral mind, physical body, arcline, auric body, pranic body, subtle body and radiant body), I’m going to focus on the eleventh body. The eleventh body represents mastery, and it is the sum of all ten bodies of light. It is described as the sound current of all existence. It is when your humanity and divinity become one. Eleven represents the absence of duality: when you know without knowing. It manifests as complete integration.
Kundalini Yoga is based in experience and the idea you will truly understand something only after you’ve experienced it. Rather than try to explain the eleventh body, I’ll ask you to have your own experience with it. If you have the number eleven, mastery, in your tantric numerology, the Ra Ma meditation can be a great tool to balance and integrate. And even if you don’t have the number eleven in your chart, this meditation helps improve communication and balance the male and female energies within you. You can do an 11-minute practice with me here. Sat Nam.
