Yogi Bhajan Lecture: Love is One Step Beyond Infinity

Excerpts from a lecture given on July 15, 1991 at International Women’s Camp in Espanola, NM

I am teaching you the basic love. I am telling you about love as you can never fail. I am not teaching you the love where you get blinded by your emotions and your commotions and your manipulations and your dreams. I am telling you something which is so real.

You know what is totality? Circle within the circle. Infinity into Infinity is equal to totality. Infinity multiplied by Infinity means Infinity. But what controls, moves, operates and does things is called love. Love is one step beyond Infinity.

You have this little temporary love. But forget about that. I am talking of love. Love makes a creature a human. There is nothing but love. There was nothing but love. There shall be nothing but love.

We do not accept that this world belongs to God. We do not accept that we are owned by God. We do not remember that we are created by God. We do not remember that we have a destination of destiny to reach. All that love of us within us, which is called totality—circle within the circle, love of us within us—is forgotten. We don't remember it.

You want to love somebody. Is that true? Everybody has a need to love somebody. If you don't love yourself, how can you love somebody?

I believe that everybody is born to be happy. It's our birthright. I studied every part of everything just with one fundamental thing: what is the key to happiness? I studied all that and wasted my time till I came to America and I heard your song. One song tells everything. You already knew it and you were singing it: “Happiness runs in a circular motion.”

Happiness runs in a circular motion.

Life is like a little boat upon the sea.

Everybody is a part of everything anyway.

You can have it all if you let yourself be.]

[Students sing.]

This is the essence of entire spirituality of this planet Earth. It's total. It is love explained.

Love is a power through which you give and you don't feel pain. Unhappiness is pain. In love there is an ecstasy; there is no pain. You can give like God.

Your love is selfish. It is gain and loss—that's not love. Love has no gain and loss. Love is beyond the five senses. Love is beyond Infinity and the outcome of that love is ecstasy, anand, and that anand gives you the recognition of an experience of anhad—you become boundless. But you have to recognize first that you are made in God. Recognize that you are the property of God.

The language of love which we earthlings do is just an expression of escapism. Our totality is not our realty. Love is a power which can make God move. Love is a power which can make God come through.

And you forgot one song which I sang on my birthday: “We are the People of Love.” Can you sing that?

[Students sing.]

You know what this means? When your love life is in trouble, if you sing it, it shall be corrected. You know what this means? When you cannot work anymore and you want God to take care of, sing it. God shall do it. God has no option.

There are sixteen beats of the naad in these words. The permutation of combination of these couplets are so powerful that when somebody sings, everywhere God listens. Let us sit and meditate and sing it for a while and then we will go home. Sit and meditate and please sing.

[Students sing We are the people, the people of love. Let people love today. Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Wahe Guru.]

This mantra is a powerful projection of the nation of the Khalsa and the individual which shall never fail. Darkness and negativity and devilishness have no defense against it.

Bless you, goodnight and happy dreams.

[Students sing: May the long time sun shine upon you...]

Bless you with integrity, with divinity, with grace, with courtesy, with kindness and Self. Acknowledge God is within, always, ever and shall be. With that all-prevailing God within you and every molecule of you, every atom of you, every cell of you, just understand and acknowledge you are thirty trillion dancing Gods alive, well, self-contained, and self-complete. May that completion, that divinity, that grace of creativity, give you peace, tranquility and an effective experience in ecstasy, joy and happiness. And above all in this may you experience a love, the perpetual infinite force which moves, creates and completes everybody. Sat Nam.
