About SYC for 3- 4 Year Olds

After birth, when the umbilical cord is cut, the physical and auric separation between the mother and child begins. It takes about three years to build independent auras. For this reason the mother is the primary influence on the child for these first three years.

The key to the child’s security at this age is discipline established with consistent routines–play time, meal time, bed time. The SYC schedule for this age group is based on this type of consistency–the same activity at the same time on each day. And we alternate regularly between contained group activities (yoga, circle time, crafts etc.) and free time where the children can play and explore on their own.

Our space is set up in a Montessori style with specific areas or stations: a place for toys (blocks, cars, dolls, etc.), a craft area for creations, an eating area, a quiet area for stories and napping, etc.

Nap time is very important for this group. Some of the older 3 and 4 year olds may resist actually sleeping, but being still and quiet for at least an hour after lunch is essential–not just for the children, but for the parents and the staff, too. Believe it or not, most of the kids actually end up sleeping!

Parent visits are discouraged during the Tantric day. Experience has shown us that once the initial separation is made at the beginning of the the day, the children are usually fine. Seeing their parents half way through the day usually just causes stress not only for them, but often for other children as well.

Trust and know that your child is well cared for, and we will contact you if there is any reason to do so. So go and enjoy Tantric!
