Musicians

This year we are blessed to have talented, inspiring, devoted musicians to lead us in kirtan, chanting, and sadhana music, as our souls connect with the  Infinite sound current:

Jai-Jagdeesh’s  journey as a singer began over 20 years ago in a temple in India, and continued all through her childhood. While at school in Amritsar, she traveled around Northern India as one of the musical representatives of Yogi Bhajn’s foreign education program (now Miri Piri Academy), playing kirtan everywhere the students were invited. Between then and now, her creative spirit has walked many artistic paths: actress, classical Indian dancer, photographer, and writer, and she says, “I find myself in perfect balance now that music has returned to the forefront.” She is deeply devoted to sharing these sacred sounds, and sings them from the center of her heart. Jai-Jagdeesh’s first album, I Am Thine, was a best-seller at Summer Solstice 2011. Facebook

SatKirin Kaur Khalsa is one of the most prolific Shabd Kirtan singers of all time. Introduced to a holy life of Kundalini Yoga and Sikhism by  Yogi Bhajan over  forty years ago, SatKirin now serves the sacred sound current with a spiritual passion rarely seen in today’s world. Her music invites the listener to merge within the zero point of stillness where one can let go of the stress of the outer world and merge with divine love. Her voice reaches deep into the heart.

Having studied with many of the world’s leading kirtan masters, SatKirin now sings for audiences and festivals across the United States and around the world with her group, Mantra Medicine Band. Her many albums have a global following and have become standards in the Kundalini Yoga community. SatKirin shares her expertise with fans on her Kundalini Yoga TV show, aired internationally on Jus Punjabi. www.satkirin.com/

When Gurunam Singh graduated high school he was given a guitar and began composing simple songs. At 22 he found Yogi Bhajan and Sikh Dharma. He sang and played along with others and over time began leading sadhana chants in the early morning hours. He spent lots of time in the solitude of his own home, and in the Sikh temple late at night, chanting to God and writing devotional songs. Gurunam’s influences range from gospel, folk and country, to classical Indian raag and traditional Sikh hymns, to many of the current artists who sing devotional Hindu chants. He occasionally studied with some great ragis such as Bhai Avtar Singh from India and Dya Singh from Australia. But his music is very simple and he invites everyone to chant along. Simrit Kaur was born in Greece and grew up in the United States. She has been singing and playing music from the time she was a young child and has studied both western and eastern classical vocals. She is an accomplished percussionist and is trained in piano. Simrit is a devoted student, practitioner and teacher of Naad Yoga, the sacred science of sound and consciousness. She is a musician, composer and yogini whose highly devotional chant music is quickly gaining attention around the world.

Simrit’s unusually rich, soulful and penetrating vocals speak for themselves. Her music and compositions are somehow both uniquely fresh with a contagious uplifting energy, and simultaneously ancient with a deep and sacred appeal.
Simrit’s debut album, The Sweetest Nectar, was released in June of 2010. simritkaurmusic.com/
