Service Area Managers are Service Exchange participants interested in taking their service experience to the next level. You should be an accomplished Service Exchange participant who is interested in making a long-term commitment to Solstice. A Service Area Manager’s service commitment includes, but is not limited to:
- Daily staff meetings
- Preparation for Solstice throughout the year
- Building your team of Service Exchange members and outlining your Karma Yogi needs
- Managing your Service Exchange members and Karma Yogis at Solstice
- Leading your Service Exchange members and Karma Yoga team in the daily meditation and check-in on site
A Service Area Manager’s time commitment is “whatever it takes.” As a Service Area Manager, your Solstice experience is intense and focused in your area of service. If you’re interested in supporting the 3HO® mission through dedicated service, consider applying for a Service Area Manager position.
Summer Solstice Sadhana Celebration needs the following Service Area Manager positions:
Solstice Youth Camp Co-op Mangers for: Toddlers – walking to 2 yrs. old and Kinders – 5 & 6 yrs.olds.
Responsibilities: Managers do part of their exchange prior to the event by scheduling outings, selecting exchanges and notifying them with pre-event info. Once on-site they will check in daily in the morning and at the end of the day with their area exchanges but they do not have to go off-site for activities unless a service exchange team member becomes ill. Manager responsibilities prior to event:
1. Create detailed schedule for group
a. Include plenty of time for each transition
b. Receive paper work for certain activities
c. Research locations and create maps for activities
d. Get deposits from GM to activity offices
e. Keep receipts
2. Screen and Accept (or not) applications for Service Scholarship Give them codes for registration. Two Service Scholarships a day. Each works 2 1/2 day
3. Communicate Service Scholarships on their responsibilities
4. Give Solstice GM dates, times and approximate numbers of children, each activity where transportation in needed.
5. Re-check organization is complete, including items necessary for activities before leaving for solstice.
6. Communicate with pool manager the times your groups will be using pool.
7. Create Activities Sheet for parents. E-mail to office for copies to be made.
Managing at Camp
1. Meet with Service Scholarships before camp starts.
a. Go over in detail the events planned. Get questions answered
b. Exchange cell phone numbers.
2. Night before go to office and collect list of parents from registration.
3. Find out about vans to be used for Upper Camp activities.
4. Get pool combination and connect with manager.
6. Meet with guides every morning and make sure day will go smoothly.
7. Meet with guides at the end of everyday and collect keys, first aides kits, file boxes and any messages for the next day.
8. Attend managers meetings with GM of Children’s Camp.
What to Bring:
- Plastic File Boxes for each person and yourself.
- All necessary paper work for outings
- Whistle
- Sense of humor!
