FOR 3HO EVENTS SUCH AS SUMMER AND WINTER SOLSTICE AND INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S CAMP
Water Conservation:
- The shower head volume restrictors used at Guru Ram Das Puri campsite effectively reduce the gallons per minute used from the standard low-flow 2.5 gpm (gallons per minute) to 1.6 gpm. We also use Kohler “energy smart toilets,” which are 1.2 gpf (gallons per flush). A conventional toilet uses 4 – 7 gallons per flush.
- As an event attendee pay attention to faucets and turn it off if it is running and unattended
- Click here for more information on how to use water wisely.
Elimination of the Use of Plastic and Paper Products:
- Bring your own cloth napkins, reusable utensils, dishes, and water bottles.
- Bring snacks that you have purchased in bulk in reusable storage containers; thereby reducing landfill contribution.
Composting and Recycling:
- Compost those leftovers on your plate. Composting greatly reduces landfill use and saves gallons of water per day that would otherwise be used to push food scraps through garbage disposals. The fertile soil created by composting adds much needed minerals to the earth.
- Recycle any glass and aluminum and tin in the appropriate container
- Be mindful of what you’re putting in the bin marked “landfill”. What you contribute has to go somewhere else and buried.
