The following Curriculum has been designed to assist you in teaching your students about SEVA, Selfless Service. Many of us know how incredible it is to serve, but many out there have not had such an experience. The Kriya and Meditation in this curriculum open our hearts to the frequency of Selfless Service.

SEVA, service to a higher cause without expectations of reward or recognition, is recognized in all spiritual traditions. Yogi Bhajan often spoke of SEVA as a cornerstone to prosperity. When we give without expectation, we create a space for that which is to come to us.

SEVA takes many forms. Sometimes it may be a big project, a fundraiser, or a race for a cause; but many times it’s little things that can easily go unnoticed, like helping someone open a door, giving someone a ride, or smiling and being extra kind to a grumpy cashier.

Often it can seem impossible to serve or be uplifting, especially when we’re busy, tired, overworked, and/or underpaid. The Becoming Like Angels Kriya strengthens our systems in such a way that it becomes possible to live and serve from our angelic nature, which is constant and giving. As we develop our angelic nature, we can rise above the ups and downs of our emotions and commotions and stay in a service-full state regardless of the situation.

Of course, we are human, so that’s where the Miracle Mantra comes in. Guru Ram Das is a servant of God, which means he must carry all our prayers to the Infinite. Chanting the Miracle Mantra opens the heart (4^th Chakra, 4^th Guru) and propels us into the realm of Miracles. Sometimes the service we are called to do may seem virtually impossible. It’s our prayer and intention, purified through the grace of Guru Ram Das and carried to the Infinite, that allows the miracles to manifest, humanity to be served, and our angelic nature to prevail.

We encourage you to make a commitment to SEVA in 2011--to integrate it fully into your being and to introduce it to your students so they may also reap the benefits.  Whether it’s in a BIG way or in the little things, open yourself to the grace and possibilities that come from giving.
