Yogi Bhajan’s Birthday Anniversary
United Nations International Day of Peace
Guru Ram Das Ji’s Birthday
Yogi Bhajan spent the better part of 30 years trying to get women to see who and what they really are—creative, sacred, and invincible. 3HO© whole-heartedly supports and celebrates the United Nations International Women’s Day, as our lifestyle is largely based on acknowledging the grace and dignity of all women.
The simple act of prayerfully holding the world together is our greatest virtue. We are the creators and we have the power to change the world by changing ourselves.
We invite you to celebrate UN International Women’s Day by joining us in a global Grace of God meditation, by offering Kundalini Yoga classes and workshops, and by serving others.

UN International Mother Earth Day honors our Mother Earth and the interdependence of all her creatures. Yogi Bhajan taught us to live consciously, to take responsibility for ourselves and our actions, and that we are one with the One and all creation. As we continue our journey towards higher consciousness, let's celebrate and take action to help sustain and nurture our Mother Earth.
In support of our home, Mother Earth, 3HO Foundation celebrates International Mother Earth Day on April 22 and offers the following information and resources:

YOGI BHAJAN'S BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY AUGUST 26
Every year we celebrate Yogi Bhajan’s birthday. This is a very cozy occasion when we chant together in gratitude for all the priceless teachings he shared with us. In the early days, we gathered at the park across from Guru Ram Das Ashram in Los Angeles. People would come from around the world to be with Yogiji on his birthday.
For eleven days prior to his birthday on August 26, we chant Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru for 31 minutes. In many communities, the chanting is hosted at different people’s homes each night. It’s always a special time for yoga students and teachers, family and friends to vibrate together, share food and stories, and celebrate the life and legacy of Yogi Bhajan.
August 15 – August 25: Eleven days of chanting Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru for 31 minutes. Call on Guru Ram Das using Yogi Bhajan’s personal mantra. Join the global spiritual community in connecting with the spirit of Yogi Bhajan, and offering thanks for all the blessings he so generously shared with us.
August 26: At exactly 3:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Savings Time our worldwide community will simultaneously chant Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru for 11 minutes. This is a powerful worldwide energetic connection to Guru Ram Das, the Lord of Miracles.
For morning sadhana on August 26 we chant the Morning Chant (long Ek Ong Kars) for 2.5 hours. Yes, it is a long time, and it helps if you can join with a group. If you haven’t experienced this amazing meditative technique, this is a perfect opportunity. In the ambrosial hours at the Hacienda de Guru Ram Das in Espanola, the sadhana room (in the Gurdwara) is packed full of yogis and yoginis wishing to partake of the nectar of this special blessing.

GURU RAM DAS BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION SEPTEMBER 28 - OCTOBER 9 Every fall, we have the blessing of celebrating Guru Ram Das Ji's birthday. Guru Ram Das, known as the Lord of Miracles, embodied humility, service, and deep devotion. Guru Ram Das held a special place in the heart of Yogi Bhajan and our community looks to him for guidance, healing, and protection. Many of our ashrams were named in his honor. Yogi Bhajan gave us a special sadhana to do in celebration of Guru Ram Das's birthday. For 11 days prior to his birthday (from Sept 28 - Oct 8) we chant the shabad 'Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru' for 31 minutes. This is the Shabad of Miracles. Then, on October 9th, the day of Guru Ram Das Ji's birth, we have a special sadhana of chanting the shabad 'Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru' for 2 ½ hours in the Amrit Vela. What a special time. Let's call on a miracle!
There are many recordings of Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru available online at Sikhnet and at Spirit Voyage. Also, you can watch a video clip of Guru Ram Das chanting led by Snatam Kaur in Espanola several years ago. Video by Gurumustuk Singh Khalsa.
Yogi Bhajan has described this occasion as a unique time of year to have our prayers and wishes fulfilled.
October 6 is the anniversary of the date Yogi Bhajan left his physical body. Many communities incorporate a special meditation, prayer, or langar on this day, which occurs during the eleven days leading up to Guru Ram Das's birthday celebration.
