International Peace Prayer Day
Ram Das Puri, Española, New Mexico
June 19, 2008

International Peace Prayer Day is an annual interfaith celebration of a collective passion for world peace that takes place on the sacred ground of Ram Das Puri near Española, NM. This year's event will be held on the very special day of Summer Solstice. We invite you to connect and celebrate in community during this sacred time to help bring peace to yourself and the world.

Program

Attendance is free and open to all. Bring sheepskins or mats for sitting, a water bottle and a plate and eating utensils – in support of our Mother Earth, we do not provide paper products – to enjoy delicious food. Come to Ram Das Puri on this special day to experience the magic of the sacred healing walk, live music, meditation circles and evening chanting.

Ram Das Puri, where International Peace Prayer Day is held, is a sacred land of the Hopi Indians and other native tribes. The elders tell us that every hundred years the ancients and warriors would meet on the land and pray to the One Creator, the Great Spirit. They believed that anyone who walked the mile and a quarter circle on this site would then be healed. At International Peace Prayer Day, you can be part of this ancient tradition. It is said that the healing energy generated by the drums and the walk will integrate your physical and mental being with your spirit.

Since 1990, International Peace Prayer Day has included the participation of many prominent musicians, entertainers, peace activists, public servants and interfaith leaders. This year's celebration includes:

Native American performances and healing ceremonies lead by the Danza Aztec De Anahauc of Taos, NM and the Red Turtle Dancers of Pojoaque, NM

Izzat Da Punjab Bhangra Troupe, a lively form of music and dance of India

A gong experience with Yogi Ray

Transcendent healing music that brings peace and harmony to the core of your being with Ashana

Kirtan and ecstatic chant ballads and grooves with Joey Lugassey

And much more including, more musicians, a group mediation, the ancient healing walk, dinner and dancing. More information coming soon.
