Healing the Body, Mind and Soul
Stretches
Generally, it is best to avoid bouncing stretches. This sends a signal to the muscle to tighten up. Gradual, consistent stretching is best. It is important to synchronize with the breath when stretching. The difference between a "bouncing or ballistic stretch" and a rhythmical breath-synchronized stretch is that in the latter you are in control of the entire motion without running the risk of collapsing the motion at the reversal point.
