A Profile of the Chakras

First (Root) Chakra – Mulhadhara
Security & Survival – Earth
Foundations, survival, security, habit, self-acceptance.
LOCATION: The end of the spine between the anus and the sexual organs.
ORGAN/GLAND: Organs of Elimination.
COLOR: Red.
QUALITIES: Grounded, centered, secure, loyal, stable. Healthy functions of elimination.
SHADOW: Fear, insecurity. Life feels like a burden; feeling of not really belonging on Earth or in one’s own culture or family. Weak constitution, elimination problems, reduced physical and mental resistance, sexual perversions.
YOGA EXERCISES: Crow Pose, Chair Pose, Body Drops, Frog Pose, Mulbhandh, Front Stretches, and lying on the stomach with feet kicking the buttocks.

Healing Recipe
Sesame Yogurt Dressing
This is an almost perfect food for women. Almonds are for the eyes, watermelon seeds for anemia, walnuts for the brain, and chilies for the intestinal tract. Serves 4.
1 large raw Onion, chopped
4 cloves Garlic, finely chopped
1 1/2 inches fresh peeled Ginger Root, finely chopped
1-2 Green Chilies, chopped
1/4 Cup Ghee
3 rounded Tbsp. Garbanzo Flour
1/4 Cup Lemon Juice
2 tsp. Turmeric
1 1/2 tsp. Cumin
1 1/2 tsp. Coriander
1 1/2 tsp. Garam Masala
4 Cups Yogurt or Buttermilk
1/8 Cup peeled Almonds
1/8 Cup Walnuts
1/4 Cup Cashews, Pecans or Apricot Kernels
1/8 Cup Watermelon or Pumpkin seeds
2 Zucchinis, chopped
Mix 1/4 cup yogurt or buttermilk with garbanzo flour and stir until it forms a smooth paste. Them stir into the rest of the yogurt or buttermilk. Sauté onions in ghee until they are clear to golden brown. Add chilies, ginger and garlic and sauté until ginger and garlic are golden. Add turmeric and sauté on a low heat until golden brown. Then add other spices. Add yogurt or buttermilk mixture. Then add lemon juice. Continue cooking on low heat. Add zucchinis, nuts, and seeds and continue simmering until zucchinis are soft.
