In the long run, it is your spirit which makes you win, which gives you courage, which gives you endurance, which gives you intuition, which gives you self-esteem and self-knowledge. The universe which you see outside is in you, too. Let me show you your universe in you....

Terri Cletro goes by two names: her day-to-day and her spiritual alter ego, Gururattan Kaur. But when she rolls her suitcase of yoga paraphernalia and sheepskin mat through the security checkpoint at a juvenile detention center 20 miles north of Los Angeles, this sparkplug of light — standing all of 4’9” — becomes simply “The Yoga Lady.”

In Honor of the 1,000th Day Since the Passing of Yogi Bhajan
July 2 is the 1,000th day since the passing of Yogi Bhajan. We encourage you to have a pot luck and invite your students to a special Kundalini Yoga class and meditation. You can participate in the Española class via the internet; we will send you the link information in the July 1 3HO eNewsletter.
The number 1,000 symbolizes both completion and mastery. As we mark July 2 2007, the 1,000th day since Yogi Bhajan’s passing, we honor both the experience of completion and we also honor new beginnings. In relation to the passing of our Spiritual Teacher from his earthly body, this occasion of 1,000 days marks the completion of our cycle of integration as a 3HO family. It is the completion of our group karmas and the beginning of the universal destiny in which each person exists as a subtle embodiment of the consciousness of the Dharma.

Healing the Body, Mind and Soul
Choosing a Meditation
The range and variety of meditation techniques in the Kundalini Yoga tradition is truly extraordinary. In the Sets & Meditations chapter of this manual you will find over 60 different meditations, a mere fraction of the hundreds of meditations that Yogi Bhajan has passed on. Yet in this compendium, you will find a comprehensive group of meditations, tailored to specific applications, which you can begin to teach your students, or practice on your own. Included are meditations which use the breath, others that use mantra. There are group meditations, healing meditations, Venus Kriyas, and meditations for children. There are meditations that reduce stress, work on addictions, increase vitality, and clear the chakras. You can also read The Mind: It’s 81 Facets and Projections, and find over 40 meditations keyed to the various aspects of the mind’s structure. For a comprehensive approach to active walking meditation, see Breathwalk, by Yogi Bhajan and Gurucharan Singh Khalsa.

Healing Recipe
Eggplant Parmigiana
3 firm Eggplants
1/2 lb. Scamorza Cheese (dried Mozzarella Cheese)
1 small Onion, finely sliced
6 tbs. Parmesan Cheese
1/2 Cup Olive Oil
1/2 lb. ripe Tomatoes (or Tomato Sauce)
Salt
Wash the eggplants. Remove the stems, and cut length-wise into slices not thicker than 1/4-in. Place the slices on a large platter, slightly on an angle. Sprinkle them with salt, place a weight on top and let stand for about one hour.
In the meantime, brown the onion in oil over a very low flame, and then add the tomatoes (tomato sauce) and let simmer for about 1/2 hour, stirring frequently. When this is done, pass through a sieve and add a pinch of salt.
Cut the scamorza into thin slices.
Wash the salt off the eggplant, dry them and fry in very hot oil. Turn them to brown and when both side are done, lift them out and drain on a paper towel.
Pre-heat the oven to 375ºF. Coat a deep baking dish with olive oil and the tomato sauce and then proceed with layering the ingredients. First place a layer of Eggplant, then cover with slices of scamorza cheese, add a layer of sauce, and sprinkle with parmesan. Repeat this layering until all the ingredients have been used and then cover with tomato sauce, sprinkle with more grated parmesan and bake for about 30 minutes.
This dish is very good hot or at room temperature and makes a good antipasto. Zucchini alla parmigiana can be made in the same way, substituting zucchini for eggplant.
Serves 3-4 people. For the video recipe of Eggplant Parmigiana check Nirmal’s Blog Spot bellow.

Sat Nam,
Italy continues:
Rome has now been my home for one month. I am taking an Italian language course and have started to notice some progress because I am finally able to have a basic conversation. Italy is great, and there is a lot to be seen in Rome; architecture, history, culture, and especially a lot of great food. Since I have been living with 5 Sicilians, I have been eating a lot of homemade food and learning a lot about Italian cuisine. I feel like the food here is made with a lot of love and prana. Attached is a video of one of my housemate’s recipes, I hope you like it!
P. S. Does anyone know of a place in Rome to visit and take part in a Kundalini Yoga class? If so, please contact me at NirmalS@3HO.org
