2009 Theme: Kindness

KYCCarrying Us into the Aquarian Age
Yogi Bhajan gave us these teachings as tools to allow us to be in the highest possible relationship to our Selves and our Truth as Women. Yogi Bhajan said, “The Aquarian Age will not manifest without the women’s teachings.”

The Spiral of Human Excellence
The arc which leads our Women’s Camp into the Aquarian Age and beyond, brings us from Kindness, through Compassion and Creativity, into Courage, and then, Majesty, which spirals naturally back to Kindness.

Kindness is the act of recognizing that another person IS your OWN kind. Kindness is an aspect of Sat Nam, as we cultivate identification with our own Self and the Self in others. Sat Nam is an acceptance of all that is. Kindness is love and a lack of separation and a feeling of being in-kind with others. This is a feeling of universal kindness, recognizing that everyone is part of you. Kindness correlates with the first Sutra of the Aquarian Age: “Recognize that the other person is you.”

Looking Forward to 2010–2013

KYCCompassion is being willing to sacrifice the Self for another. Residing in the heart chakra – compassion gives you a sense of the Self in connection with others. Compassion is the first place you have a Self strong enough to not be an emotional commotion. Compassion moves beyond the emotion and allows the establishment of the Self to bring love in. Compassion correlates with the fourth Sutra of the Aquarian Age: “Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times.”

Creativity comes from stillness, because stillness leads to activity. Take a breath and before the exhale this is a moment where you are between formless and form. In that moment of stillness—you can create. Creativity correlates with the second Sutra of the Aquarian Age: “There is a way through every block.” You can find a way through any block, because you can create a way through any block.

KYCCourage is movement; to deliver on your creativity. Courage is movement through your fear. Courage is the first step. Courage correlates with the third Sutra of the Aquarian Age: “When the time is on you, begin and the pressure will be off.”

Majesty is when we apply our courage to tend to Kindness, Compassion, Creativity, and Courage itself. It is the ultimate courage to accept your own light and radiance that is in your nature and more importantly to rely on it. This brings you to Majesty: the power of presence and quietude to it. Know Yourself for you have everything within you. Majesty: owning the ability to offer boons; true Majesty leads to Kindness. Majesty correlates to the fifth Sutra of the Aquarian Age: “Vibrate the Cosmos. The Cosmos shall clear the path.”

Through this Spiral of Excellence we are led to Unity.

“The Greatest Miracle is Unity”

~ Yogi Bhajan

History

“That is what this ladies’ camp is. It is a family reunion. It is a union of the hearts; it’s a meeting of the hearts. It’s a pleasure.”

~ Yogi Bhajan, August 4, 1980

In 1976 Yogi Bhajan first invited the women of 3HO to come together in New Mexico. He said that women must gather together to renew themselves; away from families, work and the pressures of life. He said it is a basic requirement for a woman to arrange her life so that she can focus on her own Self. Women’s Camp was created and defined as an environment of challenge and excellence. Here, woman can build her own positive caliber by letting go of limiting neuroses and negative self-image. Annually, since then, women have gathered in New Mexico; to nurture, nourish and strengthen themselves, so that they may truly bask in the light of their sisters and their own true selves, and reflect that light outwards to others.

From a 2008 Women’s Camp Attendee

“Until the third day into Women’s Camp, I hadn’t known how much I thought I had to do, all the time. I began to relax into the joy of making my own choices, just for me, for an entire week! I realized that I did not remember having been alone with a group of women for an entire week ever in my life. The blessing of this was almost overwhelming as I looked around and saw the wonderful women who made up this group and I felt the nurturing support and opened myself up to growth and elevation in the safety and gift that this experience was for me.”
