Three Stories: Searching for Truth

Searching for Truth

I'm a mother and grandmother, on a quest to find "Truth." When I first experienced the life force in me about 6 years ago, my life took a different turn. All my interests and hobbies suddenly were no longer important to me. I am now fascinated with energy, seeking to understand and experience more of what I have found inside myself. I have a keen interest in various forms of healing, alternative medicine, meditation, and spirituality. I have been practicing yoga, tai chi, and Qi gong for a number of years, and came upon Kundalini Yoga about 2 years ago. It has shown me more Truth in 2 years than I have found in the preceding 53 years of my life. I feel that I am slowly but surely coming to know who I am and what I'm here for. I just started Kundalini Yoga teacher training last month in Austin, and I'm looking forward to the journey that it will take me on. I have a longing to help others in some way, particularly others in need, and I'm searching for ways to do that. I'm studying various things to prepare for something, not sure what, but I am certain that it will all come together, with perfect timing.

Update: My life continues to change in huge leaps and bounds as a result of my Kundalini Yoga practice and the teachings of Yogi Bhajan. In fact, I am teaching Kundalini Yoga myself now, after recently getting my certification.

Coming Home

I am a 58-year-old woman that endured a 200 hour yoga teacher training course, as I have been called by God to assist other women like myself (women with physical/muscle pain issues) that make it challenging to go to a typical yoga class. Since I have had this autoimmune disease (for about 10 years), doing yoga on my own is the only thing that helps. It is truly magical. I am now considering teaching. My whole being is yoga. At my age, to finally feel that this is my purpose is heaven. I am ever so grateful for yoga—it is my soul. Thank you so much for having a place for us to come and feel we are home!

Kundalini Yoga for Seniors

I was born into a missionary family and lived my first 20 years overseas in Central America. I have always lived to be of service and to teach. I decided to create my own missionary work as a personal trainer with the Senior Citizen community in Burbank, California, and I am one year away from graduating with a B.S. in Holistic Nutrition from Clayton College for Natural Medicine. I discovered Kundalini Yoga from a video tape that was given to me by a friend. And I was instantly deeply moved. My transformation process to return to the path of a teacher began. Now I am in teacher training at the Awareness Center in Pasadena and will graduate in August 2010. I currently teach a Senior Kundalini class every Monday as my community service. I have between 35 and 40 seniors in my class and we all sit in chairs. I have learned to modify spine flex kriyas with the help of Dr. Santokh Khalsa, and the benefits in health that my class has received over the last 4 years have been phenomenal! Every time I get a great report from them, I believe in the power of Kundalini Yoga to heal our physical bodies and minds even more. I am excited to be a part of this great world of Kundalini and I look forward to teaching Kundalini Yoga for many years to come.
